Pioneer BDP-05FD Blu-Ray Player

Make sure you upgrade your firmware

These units, while high quality require a firmware update to address compatability with certain blu rays. I don't think the unit I just got ever had its firmware updated as it was still on version 1.02. On firmware 1.02 the unit sucked.... probably why it was in such great condition....after updating to the most recent firmware(go to pioneers website for info, its very simple) it's been a very good unit that has not had any problems with any media thrown at it. Overall I'm pleased with the build quality and image quality, load times are a bit slow but that's to be expected on a Player of this age, I think its a decent trade as it compliments my Pioneer PDP 5080HD pretty well. Also it should be noted that this unit is known as a very good CD player due to the DAC's pioneer put into it and the 7.1 analog outputs.Read full review

Broke completely after two uses

Open this player up if you're in for a good laugh. Inferior build, it's a PC Blu Ray unit they hooked up to a couple of circuits.

It's build like a cheap segment player. Totally not worth the full price back then . You see these players for 200usd on eBay.

You can get lots better for that.

Pioneer elite blue ray player bpd 05pd

Sounds good looks good and has a multi channel 5.1 hookup. Not many blue rays gives u this option. I love it and would recommend any one to buy it if u c it for a good price.
