FAQs

  • How does enrollment and eligibility work with eBay International Shipping?

Enrollment for Canadian sellers will start in October, 2025.

eBay will gradually expand the program’s coverage and enroll sellers when possible. You will be notified via email and Messages in My eBay about this change to your account as soon as it happens.

To maximize the likelihood of being enrolled in eBay International Shipping early, we recommend adding Country of origin information to your listings.

  • What types of items can I sell using eBay International Shipping?

eBay International Shipping will automatically display your listings that meet eligibility requirements based on category, item value (up to $2,500 USD for shipments to the US and up to $2,000 CAD for all other countries, excluding taxes, duties, and delivery fees), and listing location (item must be physically located in Canada).

Currently, only listings added on eBay.ca or cafr.eBay.ca are eligible. Stay tuned for more updates to help sellers use eBay International Shipping while listing on eBay.com.

  • Am I responsible for shipping my item internationally?

No. You simply ship to the Canadian shipping hub and eBay handles the rest.

  • Does this work for items listed on eBay.com?

No, eBay International Shipping will only be available to items listed on eBay.ca or cafr.eBay.ca, since we require a domestic shipping policy to know how you’re getting your item to the hub. As we expand the eBay International Shipping program, we will be adding coverage of Canadian listings on ebay.com in the near future.

  • Are items repackaged at the hub?

Very rarely, only if outer box damage or not suitable packaging for international transit e.g. standard envelope. Sellers should package their items ready to go to the final destination.

  • Who handles customs, duties, and tariffs?

Once you get your item successfully to our Canadian hub, eBay will handle the customs process. Just make sure your Country of origin and other product information is accurate, and we’ll take care of the rest. If any import fees apply to your item, your buyer will have the opportunity to pay those fees upfront at checkout - providing additional visibility and peace of mind for you and your buyers.

  • Do I need to add the Country of origin to my item for eBay to collect tariffs at checkout?

It is strongly recommended that sellers add the Country of origin to their listing in order to ensure accurate customs calculations and a smooth transaction. This will help build trust and confidence with your buyers and reduce the likelihood of disputes.

  • I already ship to the US - does being in eBay International Shipping override my shipping policy?

No, your existing shipping policy will still be visible to buyers, who will have the choice between eBay International Shipping and whatever shipping policy you offer to that country. If you do not have a separate shipping policy to a particular country, your item will be visible to buyers with eBay International Shipping, meaning all your orders to that country will flow through the eBay International Shipping program.

  • What countries can I sell to using eBay International Shipping?

Currently, this program will allow you to ship items to customers anywhere in the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, and Australia. Our team is working to expand this list of countries even further. You can also control which countries you ship to via eBay International Shipping. Once you are enrolled in eBay International Shipping, you can set up and manage your shipping exclusions through your Shipping preferences, Business Policies, or by revising your listings.

  • If I receive a verified rights owner complaint (VeRO) complaint, am I protected through eBay International Shipping?

If an item is displayed on eBay International Shipping and there is a VeRO, eBay will modify or remove the listing from eBay International Shipping. Negative account consequences won't be applied to the seller's account. If you offer additional international shipping services, you'll need to go to the 'Exclusions' section of My eBay and manually remove the countries that can't import your items. This will help ensure you only ship to countries allowed and that you don't receive negative actions if you self-ship these products.

Learn more about the VeRO program.

  • Am I responsible for international returns?

No, eBay handles them for you with eBay International Shipping. Once your item is received undamaged at the domestic shipping hub, your sale is considered complete. If the buyer opens a return, your item will be returned to a third party service provider or liquidated and you will keep your sale. In the event a buyer contacts you and asks for a refund, let them know to choose the return option in their order history. Learn more about how your buyer can request a refund. For any other shipping method, the seller’s return policies apply and the seller is responsible for managing the return.

  • Where is the domestic hub located?

To start, the domestic shipping hub is located in Mississauga, ON.

  • Are there any restricted items or categories?

Items included in eBay's hazardous, restricted or regulated materials policy, or that don't follow our International trading policy, can't be shipped using eBay International Shipping.

Items that are shipped to buyers in the UK need to comply with all applicable UK laws and regulations. We have put measures in place to prevent items that may not comply with UK regulations, such as CE Certification and/or Plugs and Sockets Regulations, from being sold to buyers in the UK.

Due to export limitations and restrictions, items listed in the following categories also can't be shipped with eBay International Shipping. This is not an exhaustive list and it may be updated based on transportation regulations and export laws.

    • Any category or items containing Radium or other radioactive materials
    • Dangerous goods requiring hazardous handling labels & documentation
    • Export-controlled items requiring license > Ex. Military vehicle parts
    • Business & Industrial > Heavy equipment & attachments
    • Collectibles > Knives, swords & blades
    • eBay Motors > Airbags, used parts (containing hazardous residue), AC refrigerant, vehicle paint (flammable)

    • Electronics > High-power lithium battery devices (over 100 watt-hour)
    • Electronics > Drones
    • Health & Beauty > Fragrances (flammable perfumes & cologne)
    • Flammable or otherwise hazardous aerosols

    • Replica firearms > Prop guns
    • Stamps, coins & paper money
  • What if I already ship to the US?

eBay International Shipping does not replace any existing shipping policies you might have to international markets. Buyers will be able to choose between eBay International Shipping or your existing shipping policy. The shipping price first shown to buyers in your listing page and search results will be the less costly of the two options. Buyers then have the ability to choose between your existing shipping policy and eBay International Shipping as they check out.

  • Who pays for shipping?

When your buyer selects eBay International Shipping, they will see a calculated shipping cost to be paid at checkout. This includes whatever domestic shipping rate you charge for your items. Sellers are paid out based on that domestic rate, and are simply responsible for shipping to the domestic eIS hub in Mississauga.

  • What are the seller fees to use eBay International Shipping?

There are no additional fees charged to sellers while using eBay International Shipping. In fact, orders purchased through eIS will have the international sales fee waived!

  • How do I ship my item to the Canadian hub in Mississauga?

After a sale with eBay International Shipping, you’ll be given the address to our Canadian hub within your ‘Orders’. From there, you have the flexibility to ship to the hub using any carrier or service that you already list in your domestic shipping policies. You will be paid out for shipping based on your domestic shipping costs.

  • Are all eBay International Shipping eligible items available in all eligible countries?

Sometimes, items that can be shipped through eBay International Shipping have additional compliance requirements for certain countries. However, that does not mean they are ineligible for all countries.

You can learn more about which categories are fully excluded from eBay International Shipping here.

  • How can I offer only eBay International Shipping to my buyers?

If you only want international buyers to see eBay International Shipping when they browse your items, all you need to do is remove your other self-ship options. If you only offer domestic shipping on an eIS-eligible item, it will automatically surface to eligible buyers through eBay International Shipping.
